What's your process?

Those of you who have a blog, or write anything on a regular basis...what is your writing process? How do you decide what you want to write about, and once you've figured that out, how do you begin? If you come up with ideas that require internet research, how do you tackle that?

I haven't been righting here of late. I've found that I don't like writing as much as I do other things, e.g. fishing, camping, and making things.

One thing for sure, make sure your heart is in it. If you don't care about it, it'll be hard to write anything worth a damn.

My best writing is usually when I'm writing as a gift to someone. A couple of Christmases, back I wrote seven parables and emailed them to people as a Christmas gift. But even when I have stories and characters in mind I don't care so much about them. I'm not sure why. I'm giver. That's just what I do.

Process. Hmmm. Write down something you care about. Start there. Check out Michael A Stackpole's site. He seems to have a real heart for teaching writing. His Secrets newsletter and podcasts are quite informative: http://www.michaelastackpole.com/

I tried to post things I think others will find interesting, even if only mildly so. Recently I've tried to make sure I get all my other stuff done before blogging, which means I haven't done much blogging.

Good luck.

Understood. The last few days I've found that I'm not really in the mood to write--besides the fact that other household chores are calling my name. Or maybe that's Parker who's calling my name.
