Question: Maybe Later I'll Have a Chance to Look This Up Online

At about 6:15 this morning I woke up with a cramp in the calf muscle of my right leg. It was terrible. Now I know that when you get a cramp there are certain things you should do, and there are certain things you shouldn't. Neither Michale nor I could remember what they were.

Are you supposed to point your toe, or flex your ankle? I flexed, which led to an ankle that wouldn't stop flexing. Finally Michael suggested that I get up and walk on it a little bit, and that seemed to do the trick.

I haven't had a leg cramp in ages, although I used to occasionally get a small one while driving. There's a scary thought.

I get leg cramps often during pregnancy and it's always at night. I don't know what the correct procedure is for relieving them, but moving my feet always makes it worse. If Wes is in bed with me I wake him up and make him rub it. That always seems to do the trick. If he's not there, then I try to rub it myself.

I've never been a pregnant woman, but I do get calf cramps periodically. Like Tina, I find that just not moving at all seems to be the best course of action. I then consciously try to relax everything in my calf and foot. After a few minutes, it tends to relieve itself and just become a dull ache. Then I can massage it a little if it's still feeling tight.

I do pretty much the same thing for foot cramps, which I seem to get more often.
